Claws Together Forever – A short kids christmas tale from the Gum Tree

A Gumleaf Gang Christmas Story

High in the eucalyptus hills of the Southern Cross Forest, something very curious was happening. It wasn’t snowing, but glittering gum blossoms danced through the warm December air, and the smell of eucalyptus and Christmas pudding filled the breeze.

In a cozy hollow at the top of an old gum tree lived Santa and Mrs. Claws Koala — the sweetest, fluffiest duo in the bush. They weren’t quite like the North Pole pair you might know. Instead of snow and reindeer, these two had gumleaves and galahs, sunshine and sugar gliders, and a workshop full of bush magic.

Every year, Santa Claws polished his tiny red glasses, brushed the gumleaves out of his beard, and checked his “Nice-but-Sometimes-Naughty” list — which, of course, included half the Gumleaf Gang!

Mrs. Claws, with her pink glasses and holly wreath collar, was the heart of the operation. She baked wattleseed cookies for the echidnas, brewed lemon myrtle tea for the wombats, and tied shiny red bows on every parcel herself.

But one year, all didn’t go to plan!

“Santa Claws,” she said one warm evening, “the kookaburras have borrowed all the wrapping paper for their nests!”

“Oh dear,” chuckled Santa Claws, scratching his ear. “Looks like we’ll be doing eco-wrapping again!”

So, they used fallen gum leaves, bits of ribbon, and the prettiest blossoms from the forest floor. The result? The most beautiful, earth-friendly Christmas presents ever made!

That night, the Gumleaf Gang gathered under the twinkling southern stars. Kangaroo joeys bounced in excitement, koala cubs cuddled tight, and even the Tasmanian devils managed to behave (mostly).

Santa Claws climbed into his sleigh — a hollow log pulled by four super-speedy sugar gliders — while Mrs. Claws waved with a warm smile.

“Remember,” she called out, “Christmas isn’t just about presents — it’s about kindness, cuddles, and caring for each other!”

Off they soared, gliding through the summer sky, their laughter echoing through the forest.

The next morning, every gum tree sparkled with little gifts wrapped in nature’s finest, each with a tiny note from the Claws’

“Merry Christmas,
from the heart of the bush.
Stay kind, stay curious
— and always stay cuddly.”
